Everyone has their own reason(s) for taking on a blog; however, they all have one thing in common – the desire to share information with others. After the novelty wears off, many find that writing posts and maintaining their blog can be demanding and challenging.
For many bloggers, their blog begins with a small following and hopefully gains readership. Increased readership takes place because the blog has a message that others want to hear. This message in turn launches a product brand – which means how the message is perceived by current and potential readers.
The most difficult undertaking associated with a blog is living up to a product brand, once it is established by the owner/writer. The more popular a blog becomes, the more difficult it becomes to sustain this brand. This complex process requires the ability to assess why readers keep coming back or fail to return.
Product Brand Awareness
The product brand begins with the name of the blog, is it gimmicky without substance or is appropriately titled with substance. This substance relates to the content in the blog. Regardless of the title or content, both must be apparent to readers. Basically, does the blog deliver what the title promises?
As many bloggers discover online world is full of noise and they want their blog to rise above this noise and be heard. This is analogous to people who use giant antennas for sifting through all the electronic noise hitting planet earth; trying to find intelligence. This analogy is transferred to all those sitting in front of a computer and trying to filter the Internet for intelligent life.
This also leads to a common blogger’s concern – establishing a positive image with their readers. This is critical because once a negative image is perceived by a blog’s readers, it is almost impossible to recover.
Tips for Successful Blog Branding
The following are questions every blogger should ask themselves as they create a direction for their blog.
Does the Blog Add to the Noise or Contribute to the Conversation?
Are you just rewriting the same old information that others are writing about. If so, you need to extend the conversation topic’s noise and take it to a new level of debate or thought process.
Are You Answering the Unanswered Questions the Noise Often Creates?
Every blog dialogue creates questions that remain unanswered by a blog or related blogs. If you answer these unanswered questions, then your blog will stand out from the noise and rise to the forefront.
Are You Sharing Something New and How it Adds to the Noise?

Finding new information is difficult at best today, especially if a blog is languishing in the noise of the past or present. Are You Challenging the Information Contained within the Noise?
